On the 16th of September, in conjunction with the Malaysia Day Celebration celebrated nationwide, the Malaysian Maritime Academy was also a part of it. MMA organised a marching event together with the CEO Parade (official assembly), at 8 AM on thursday 14th of September. As the 16th was declared a public holiday, MMA organised the event on the last day before its cadets leave campus for their holiday.
The event begin in the morning at 8 and came to a end at 9. Though it was short, the one hour was very energized and it has increase the patriotisme among us cadets. The event started off with a welcoming speech by our honourable CEO, Mr. David Fredrick. Upon his speech, the RO (Regimental Officer), Mr Yussof, and his three wardens initiated the marching ceremony.
Cadets were grouped in their respective marching units, with respective to clubs, societies, and seniority. One class from the juniors, one class from the seniors, a few marching units from various clubs in MMA for example, the indian society, debate society and taekwando club, and finally a marching unit from our very own Reserve Navy Cadets (PALAPES LAUT ALAM).
The marching was so well coordinated. While marching, some units loudly screamed (KIRI KANAN KIRI), the usual practice, while some teams sang among the nations patriotic songs. They marched in units as coordinated by the wardens and then took their positions in the parade square, our assembly ground.
Once all was in place, our Morning Colours commenced as usual. But the feeling in us was not as other days, it was driven with the patriotic feel and we were all potraying our love to our mother country. After singing and reciting the pledge, the event concluded and all were told to disperse.
It was a fun filled day, and the memories in addition to the emotions could never be forgotten. We cadets are looking forward to celebrate more events in MMA in the coming days.
