FIRST BATCH IN 40 YEARS

    Hang on a minute...Lets take a second to appreacaite the record we have broken.. the first in 40 years.  What have we done ? What achievement is that ?...well, nothing much 

       We, students of DNS 21 (our batch in ALAM). is the first to have a two striped epaulette.  Usually, the tradition in Malaysian Maritime Academy was students get to study for a year, and then proceed to sailing for their cadetship period for another year and return back for third year which is final year.  When students return back from 12 months at sea, they are given a three stripped epaulette.  

         However for our batch, there was a slight change.  The system took a turn.  We are told to do 2 years of studying and then proceed to sea for practical.  Which means after junior year, we are directly channeled into senior year.  During the first few months, there was various misconception as what are our epaulettes' going to be.  We cant wear the one stripped as we are done with junior year and we cant wear the three stripped as we are not practcally in the third year.  After several discussion internally we are given a two stripped epaulette.  

          The date, 19th of September marks history where 2 stripped epaulette was introduced, and my class DNS 21 Alpha was the first to put it on.  Dramatically, it was like the beginning of a whole new journey as here after there will no more be three stripped epaulette.  

            We liked the honour and will put it on with great pride on our shoulders. THE FIRST BATCH IN 40 YEARS.
