It was our first week at ALAM. Many hopes, dreams and wishes
were driving every single one of us who enrolled in ALAM. Our parents faces
were filled with pride and hope as they were about to send us to ALAM as they
know that we are on the right path to a brighter future at ALAM. All of us
brought bags, luggage, even pillows and stuffed toys from home but unluckily,
our wardens had to remove them, from our luggage as it is not allowed in out
hostel. We were not allowed to bring many things as it is stated in the rules
of ALAM. Once finishing our so called 'luggage check' we were assigned to our
rooms in the Pacific Block. That's where i met new friends who soon became
family.
To be honest, it was not a week that we were looking forward
to. We had no idea that we were enrolling in a regimentation system based
program. We had a hell of a week but trust me, it was worth the pain and
suffering. We had to march from one place to another starting our day at 5.00 am
and ending it at 12.00am. We were given correctional activities for every
mistakes or rules broken by us. But in those harsh moments is where we made new
friends. Our new family called DNS 21 ALPHA, never loss faith on each other.
Each supporting the other when one is about to give up but due to our teamwork
and good leadership skills we prevailed our Induction Week.
Example of some of the activities that were carried out
during our Induction Week were, Morning Physical Training at 6.00 am, Morning
Colors, Marching Practice, Swimming Tests, Physical Tests, intense activities
during Roll Call and above all Obstacle Course was a really great memory of
mine. It was the very first time we were rolling in the mud, jumping over a
very high wall, running over a metal pipe which was a couple of meters from the
ground and many more.
Today, it has been a year in ALAM and we have learnt many
things about self-discipline, respect and of course punctuality. ALAM has
thought us to be matured at a very young age. Unlike many other universities or
colleges, ALAM is the place where we were thought to be on our toes and be
ready for anything rather than being spoon fed all the time. Above all we have
made a new family here in ALAM including lecturers, trainers and also other
officers and engineers. Thank you ALAM.
